For homes, flats, shops and offices where you want a smooth, continuous ceiling rather than visible tiles. Suspended metal framing creates a level finish below an uneven ceiling and conceals service runs.
It can also accommodate insulation. Sound insulation and fire resistance depend on the complete specified construction, not the plasterboard alone. Access panels are planned wherever maintenance access is needed.
When noise from the floor above is the main problem, particularly in flats or properties with timber floors. Suitable isolation, acoustic insulation, dense board layers and sealed edges work together to reduce sound transfer.
Voices and TV are airborne noise; footsteps transmit vibration through the structure and may also need treatment to the floor upstairs. The specification depends on the noise and building. Ordinary acoustic grid tiles mainly reduce echo within the room.
Minimum ceiling drop: 100 mm.
